Obituary – David Patrick Leeper

David Patrick Leeper, age 75, of Kellerton, Iowa, the son of Harley and Marjorie Mae (Foster) Leeper, was born January 30, 1944, in Lamoni, Iowa. He died at the Select Specialty Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa on Wednesday, July 10, 2019.

Dave grew up in Lamoni before the family moved to Lamoille, Iowa. He attended school in both Lamoni and State Center, Iowa. As a young adult he moved back to Lamoni and worked at the packing plant. When it closed he went back to Lamoille and met Doris Ann Rittierodt. They were married on February 8, 1964, in Marshalltown, Iowa. They started their marriage living in Marshalltown before moving to Lamoni. For the past 35 years they have resided in Kellerton, Iowa. They were blessed with five children, Laura, William, Robert, Jeff, and Jennifer.

Dave was a machinist at Industrial Hardfacing in Lamoni for most of his working life. He retired in 2009. In earlier years, Dave enjoyed fishing and hunting and was on the Kellerton Volunteer Fire Department. More recently he enjoyed meeting with the Coffee Crew.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and brother, Jim Leeper. Survivors include his wife, Doris Leeper of Kellerton; children, Laura Leeper and Harold Vanderflught of Kellerton, Bill and Wendy Leeper of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Bob Leeper of Kellerton, Jeff Leeper of Kellerton, and Jennifer and Tom Surdi of Chariton, Iowa; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Karyol Haye of Marshalltown; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

No services are planned at this time. Arrangements were through the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa.
